What We Do: Stewardship
Caring for Protected Land
Once land is protected forever, it needs to be taken care of to stay healthy so the land can provide local food and wine, lovely trails, wildlife habitat, fresh air, and cleaner water.
Working with our partners, landowners, and volunteers, we steward the land to ensure the intent of its protection through the conservation easement is being met and the conservation value is continually protected.
-
Land stewardship is how we show our commitment to enhancing our properties that are under easement - and that includes monitoring the land for appropriate uses.
We accomplish this through annual visits to ensure the land’s resources are properly managed and protected for agriculture, wildlife, or recreation uses.
-
With the help and guidance of landowners, we preserve the conservation values and resources that are cherished by all.
Each property held under easement is required to be monitored annually for compliance with the terms of the conservation easement.
-
We also hold easements on public lands within our community.
In addition to the annual monitoring of these easements Tri-Valley Conservancy assists by organizing teams of volunteers for clean-up efforts, trail construction and maintenance, planting, watering, habitat restoration, non-native plant removal, and other work projects.
-
Conservation value is a term that represents the intrinsic worth of natural landscapes and ecosystems that contribute to biodiversity, ecological health, and the overall well-being of our planet.
Conservation value also extends to cultural and historical significance, as certain lands may hold importance for local communities or indigenous peoples.
