He is retired from the Livermore City Council having served from 2007-2011. Prior to that Jeff worked at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory from 1971 until his retirement in 2007. Jeff currently serves on the City of Livermore Historic Preservation Commission.
Jeff was born in Berkeley, CA and has lived most of his life in the East Bay Area. He earned BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Davis. He comes from a family of farmers: his maternal grandfather was a grain broker in southwest Minnesota and his paternal grandparents raised chickens in Petaluma, CA. Jeff moved to Livermore in 1971 and has three adult children, Stuart, Matthew and Daphne.
He is an enthusiastic traveler, having visited most states in the US, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Europe, Morocco, South America, Japan, and China, riding the local trains wherever possible. He is also an avid cook, preparing dishes from most every continent and culinary region.
